Why driveways need a different coating than garage floors
Driveways live in full Florida sun, see daily UV and thermal cycling, and get hit with both rain and irrigation. Garage-floor epoxy fails badly outdoors — it yellows in weeks and peels under hot tires. For driveways we exclusively use 100%-UV-stable polyurea or polyaspartic systems with aliphatic chemistry that holds color for 10+ years outdoor. The base coat is also flexible to absorb concrete movement that would crack a rigid epoxy.
What we do about existing cracks and spalling
Every driveway install includes structural crack repair using flexible polymer mortar, spall patching, and joint chasing/refilling. For driveways with extensive cracking we recommend a polymer-modified cementitious overlay before coating, which gives you a smooth fresh substrate. Slabs with active settlement or sinking sections need leveling (mudjacking or foam) before any coating — we'll flag this at the quote.
